Rod Maly, CEO
After concluding a successful career in technology, Mr. Maly turned a 40-year passion for fine and decorative art into a thriving business by establishing Art encounter in Las Vegas in the early 1990’s. With Mr. Maly’s guidance, Art encounter became the largest retail art gallery in Nevada, was voted “Best Art Gallery In Las Vegas,” and handled some of the biggest names in the art world. Under Mr. Maly, this fine art, custom framing, appraisal, and dealership business developed a reputation for accurate, high-integrity art appraisals; museum quality framing; and a propensity for offering unique works of art by established masters as well as emerging artists. Mr. Maly is known for his philanthropic work with local and national charitable organizations where he has selflessly devoted himself to the curating and auctioneering of fine art related fund raising events.
Brett K. Maly, President, USPAP Certified Appraiser
Mr. Maly has served as a Director for Art encounter since 1996 and as its president since 2010. In 2004, Mr. Maly was certified as an appraiser through UC Irvine’s Certification Program in Fine Art and Decorative Arts. Mr. Maly is a member in good standing with the American Society of Appraisers and has completed his certification in the Uniform Standards Of Professional Appraisal Practice. In addition to appraising artworks by some of the most important artists of the last 200 years for both private collectors and prestigious institutions, Mr. Maly has appeared as an expert on radio and television. He has a recurring role on the History Channel show PAWN STARS, where he has discussed everything from fine art valuation to its collection and preservation.
Scott L. Ferguson, Executive Director
As a graduate with a BFA from New York University and of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, Mr. Ferguson brings a distinguished 30-year career in fine art to our professional staff. Mr. Ferguson has extensive experience in the art gallery business, having been employed as Director for some of the finest galleries in New York and Las Vegas. As curator for Art encounter, Mr. Ferguson is presenting for acquisition, unique investment grade works of art to annex our existing sensational collection. Additionally, Mr. Ferguson oversees Art encounter’s consignment department, creating a unique alternative venue for those clients who wish to remain anonymous, and have their collection sold in a private and discreet environment.
Brooke Nichols, Executive Assistant
With a familiarity in the world of social media marketing, administrative work, and a devout love of art, Ms. Nichols has come to us with the necessary tools needed to help the company reach new feats across the digital universe in order to help share our diverse collection of art with a wider audience.
Janella Hunsaker, Supervisor, Framing Services
Since her employment began over 15 years ago, Ms. Hunsaker has been a creative mind behind Art encounter’s award winning framing department. Under her guidance, Art encounter has maintained it’s reputation for high quality museum and conservation framing second to none. From original masterworks by renowned artists such as Picasso and Matisse to costumes worn by famous celebrities, Art encounter is prepared for any framing and design challenge.
Kelly Tucker, Senior Framer
With over 13 years experience, Mr. Tucker specializes in unique and archival design, as well as shadow boxing with custom layout.
