Famous men were often depicted on labels. ?Mark Twain? was one of the most popular labels of this sort because of its strong connection to American History and pride. Interestingly, this label was printed at the time of Twain?s death in 1910. Knowing that the majority of individuals who purchased cigar products regularly were men, the industry used Stone Lithography Labels to market to the consumer demographic they strove to reach. Then as today, iconoclastic images were used as a theme because men readily identified with them.
