About Echruseos: 
Jack White created his gold-leaf, Echruseos technique (Greek for having been done in gold) of painting in 1970 and stopped doing them--in favor of more traditional oils--in 1978.  It utilizes 14 and 23-karat gold leafing with other metallic foils, spray paint, acid staining and more traditional paint media presented on a combination of paper and glass to create a layered image that appears three-dimensional.
