Cigar Label Art
These are genuine antique stone lithographs produced between 1870 – 1925. Discovered in dusty warehouses and factories around the world, these original artworks represent the pinnacle of the advertising illustrator’s art and can never be reproduced. Turn-of-the-century lithographers employed social artists to record a variety of themes to attract the cigar purchases of our forefathers. The process cost as much as $6,000 (nineteenth century) to create a single run. Each color in these lithographs represents the etching of a separate 300 pound stone, with many images requiring up to 20 individual stones for production. The image was printed on high quality paper and then embossed or gold leafed by master craftsmen. Coveted by museums and collectors worldwide, these original, pristine condition antique stone lithographs are preserved for your enjoyment.
