The 17th hole at P.G.A West (Stadium Course) in La Quinta, California, is aptly nicknamed ALCATRAZ because of its eerie resemblance in golfer’s minds to the island prison on San Francisco Bay. The 166 yard par 3 encompasses a tee shot from an elevated tee to an island green edged with treacherous rocks. When it comes down to it, the options on the 17th are easy, you are either on the green or in trouble. The rolling hills surrounding the desert community of La Quinta provide a stunning backdrop for this beauty of a golf hole. The scenic contrast of Alcatraz is captured in time by Danny Day in this striking piece.
These limited editions prints were produced as off-set lithographs. First, the image is photomechanically reproduced from the original oil painting of the artist. Next, the images are printed as off-set lithographs on a high grade, acid – free paper. Upon successful completion of all printing, the artist personally inspects, hand signs and numbers each limited edition print. All printing plates utilized in producing the image are then destroyed.
