La Boda – Cigar Label Art

During the early 20th century, Spanish themes held particular popularity among cigar manufacturers. Cigar smokers accepted the notion that the finest tobaccos came from Cuba and the Spanish West Indies. Even if a label were inherently American (manufactured in the U.S. and of an American concept) manufacturers would print Spanish terms to add credibility to the label. Manufactured in Indiana, “La Boda” (The Wedding) has been a prime example of an American-Made stone lithograph with a completely Spanish theme.
