Anthony Quinn, Mexican-American, 1915-2001, was an Oscar winning actor known for also creating expressive figurative sculpture, portraiture, paintings and fine art prints.
This work of art entitled, Lost Fragment, is inscribed on the back, “A Quinn” by the artist.
Quinn was known to have spent time between takes on movie set locations sculpting and painting. The concept for this sculpture was created while acting in Africa. The title of the artwork references ancient fragments found across Africa. The pink head takes an infinity symbol shape, with the head facing left, in a mask-like style with a strong vertical axis, and a lens opening for the eye. Strands of hair compose the left loop, with a large opening in a sideways teardrop shape.
