Description
Marc Chagall (1887 – 1985) was a belorussian-born French artist. An early modernist, he was associated with several major artistic styles and created works in virtually every artistic medium, including painting, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramics and fine art prints.
This stone lithograph depicts one of the twelve Jerusalem Windows representing the twelve tribes of Israel – this work being Chagall’s illustration of ‘Judah’, installed in the Ein Karem campus synagogue, Jerusalem, Israel, in 1962, is signed in pencil in the lower right by the artist.
